Christmas donation 2025
Working together for children with kidney disease
This year, we are once again sending a message of solidarity. Instead of giving gifts to our customers, we are donating a fixed amount of money per employee to a local charity that supports families going through a particularly challenging time in their lives. This year, our donation will go to the charity "Für nierenkranke Kinder e.V." (for children with kidney disease), based in Münster, Germany.
A small organ with a big job
Kidneys are truely multi-talented. They clean our blood, regulate water and salt balance, control blood pressure and produce important hormones for blood formation and bone metabolism. Without functioning kidneys, the body can no longer adequately eliminate toxins. Every year, 150 to 200 children in Germany develop such severe kidney disease that their kidneys no longer function adequately. This usually requires dialysis treatment several times a week or even a kidney transplant. This time-consuming treatment not only affects health, but also influences school performance, leisure activities and family life as a whole.
Support for affected families
When children suffer from chronic kidney disease, it poses an enormous challenge for the whole family. In addition to medical care, parents and siblings need reliable support in everyday life. This is exactly where the association "Für nierenkranke Kinder e.V." (for children with kidney disease) comes in. It strengthens psychosocial care in pediatric nephrology and provides support so that young patients can continue their education, training, and lives. Founded in 1990, the association works in conjunction with the KfH Children's Kidney Center and the Children's Clinic at Münster University Hospital. However, as there are fewer than 20 centers for pediatric dialysis and kidney transplants in the whole of Germany, the catchment areas are large. For some children, this means regular and long journeys to hemodialysis.
Donations ensure support beyond purely medical care. This includes funding for educational programs during dialysis, services for siblings, learning materials for lessons during dialysis sessions, excursions and individual assistance. In short: support that makes everyday life easier and opens up new perspectives.
Family vacation by the sea
The association is particularly passionate about its flagship project: family vacations by the sea. For many families with children on dialysis, vacations are difficult to plan. During these vacations, several nursing, therapy and medical professionals spend ten days with around ten families on the North Sea coast. Dialysis takes place on site and is carried out by the Münster team. There is time for joint activities, discussions, and exchanges between parents who are going through similar experiences. These days recharge batteries, boost confidence and provide a sense of normality.
In this spirit, we wish our partners, suppliers and customers, as well as our team and their families, a peaceful Christmas season and all the best for 2026.
