From challenge to solution
FeBa Fensterbau GmbH has been successfully manufacturing German quality products at its headquarters in Burbach for more than 50 years. In recent years, the company has taken a significant step toward digitalization. The transformation process began with a specific challenge: FeBa products installed within the building could only be identified retrospectively with high effort. Although a continuous flow of information via ERP software had been established up to the delivery of the components, this previously ended with the installlation on site.
In 2022, FeBa decided to collaborate with the Digital Building Solutions GmbH (DBS) to overcome this challenge. The chosen solution is based on the integration of a QR code in the window frame, which can be used to access basic information, service and maintenance instructions, as well as contact details for the FeBa specialist dealer. This makes it easy to get in touch, even years later and if the owner changes.
Efficient digital documentation
A decisive selection criterion for FeBa was the app InstallationPro provided by DBS for documenting installation processes. Standardized, digital questionnaires enable structured and efficient recording of relevant installation data. This process is supplemented by a photo documentation, the recording of responsibilities and the respective installation status. This enables a consistent use of FeBa.ID throughout the entire product life cycle.
The data interface to A&W Cantor was one of the biggest challenges. Thanks to the expert pioneering work of everyone involved and a number of revisions and optimizations, the interface now works reliably.
A simple scan of the window frame with a smartphone is all it takes to open the FeBa ID and call up important product information.
Continuous optimization
In 2023, FeBa and DBS launched a one-year pilot phase, during which valuable insights were gained and continuous optimization measures were implemented in close coordination. DBS impressed with its high level of software expertise and comprehensive range of functions. Today, FeBa is able to gradually digitize processes and thus generate lasting added value for customers.
FeBa.ID has been in live operation since spring 2025. All FeBa products can now be uniquely and permanently identified via a QR code, ensuring complete traceability and optimized information provision throughout the entire product life cycle. This creates considerable added value for all parties involved by making product data available in a transparent and resource-optimized manner.
Together into the digital future
Today, the advantages of FeBa.ID are clearly evident in cross-trade commissioning work during the construction phase and in subsequent revision processes. The provision of product data, identification of installed components, parts lists, electrical circuit diagrams, image documentation and even CE declarations characterize the future digital world with FeBa.ID. DBS has contributed significantly to the success of this project through its high level of flexibility and adaptability and will continue to be a reliable partner for FeBa Fensterbau GmbH in the future.
